Home improvements

Well, here we are on a Wednesday afternoon thinking back to the previous weekend. My back and shoulders ache just looking at the improvements we made to our little suburban homestead.

Every light fixture in the kitchen has been replaced. The former flush mount over the sink has been swapped out to a pendant light. The two flush mounts in the middle of the ceiling and near the pantry, also replaced. The chandelier over the table? Yep, replaced that too. The new “chandelier” would be more at home over a bar or island, but it looks good. The last one would be in the laundry room. Changed 1 for 1, but to match the rest of the lights.

Then there’s the living room. 15′ vaulted great room ceiling. 3′ down rod ceiling fan. Increased size from 48″ to 62″. Had to replace the ceiling mount bracket because of the drastic angle of greater than 16 degrees!

Lastly, the foyer light. Changed from a simple white pendant fixture to the new dark bronze one that now adorns the entrance way.

I figure that I must have climbed up the step ladder ~60 times. Let’s not forget the 12′ A frame ladder, which I used to swap out the ceiling fan! About 20 or so times.

What was it all for? It was done for my wife, whom I love and adore. It was done to spruce up the house. It was done to update the 20+ year old fixtures and bring my home into the 21st century!

Happy Wife, Happy Life. Sore back, barking dogs? Yeah those too.
