Well the weather is starting to warm up here, and I my son has cut the grass for the first time this year! My wife and I purchased a cantilevered umbrella with stand and set it up on the deck. I even transplanted my tiny vegetable garden to the raised bed. I am jazzed by the warmer weather and can’t wait to get outside and start writing!
On other fronts, my wife attempted to have a weekend away while leaving the kids at home. Alone. We left Friday evening and made the three hour drive to the cabin. Upon arrival and plugging in the pump, I found that it wouldn’t build up pressure! WTF! My mother had just been there a day before and had a plumber out to fix a leak now there was another one! Dammit! On top of that, my “puppy” didn’t know how to dog. She waited until 1am to tell me that she needs to go pee! Could she have done it before then? Absolutely. Did she pee the 3 other times I let out the older dog? Nope. So with a restless nights sleep, no water, and a visibly frustrated and bored wife, we came home.
Now the drive home was much better than the drive up. I googled a route that avoided the highway and we set out. The drive took us only a half hour longer, but it was pretty cool! We saw the Deer Park, now closed, crossed the Saginaw River at Independence Bridge and saw an awesome battleship? We stumbled upon the Psycho house with hearse and mannequins in the windows. We also got to travel through some towns and villages that are FAR off the beaten path. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
After all that, it is back to the grind. Maybe we can try again, but this time with water.
