Well howdy and welcome! The improvements at our little home have been progressing. We just had the 20+ yr old water heater replaced with a brand new one. Nothing wrong with the old one, just age and we knew were on borrowed time. Now we have an upgraded larger tank! Whoo hoo! 50 gallons of hot water! Maybe now we can all have showers without someone (me) having to take a cold one!
The deck replacement has been postponed a week or so, due to the snow that we got last week! Our contractor has asked me to pull the permits and I have everything in order except some of the finer details. Once I have those I can submit the permit and hopefully get that project over and done with!
I have also been working diligently on my novel, Book 2 of the Hawkins family adventures, New Homestead. I have settled on an opposing view from the local prison and will be bringing the two groups on a collision course that will determine the future of New Baltimore! Oooh, sounds ominous. It kind of is and isn’t. You’ll just have to read it and find out!
As for the woodworking projects, everything is pretty much on hold due to the skyrocketing lumber prices! I read an article that stated that the amount of lumber needed for a 200 sq ft deck in April 2020 would have cost $628, where as in April 2021 it would cost $3968!!! WTF!! Is this gold plated lumber? Holy Hell Batman! So yeah, that’s that, for now.
Cabin update: Apparently the plumbing has been fixed, although I would like to go up there to test it and get some more writing done. Also, I will be upgrading the cable to include phone and internet. Time to update the cabin amenities as well!
TTFN!
