Writing Goals

Hello faithful reader! I am proud to say that I have been able to buckle down and write more of the second novel, New Homestead! I have consistently written for 3 days straight for a total of 11 hours. and that is awesome! I recently read a post on Facebook that stated to become a more prolific and proficient writer is to actually schedule time on a calendar to write. I have tried and tried to accomplish this goal, but it had eluded me. I feel most inspired when I am sitting outside, away from distractions (phone, tablet, tv, family), so I purchased an EZ Up Canopy and have it mounted to my deck. This is how I was able to write consistently in my first novel, Home Bound. Well, as time marches on, the original canopy started to show it’s age and wear. We threw it out. So I have been without a canopy all year. Now that I have a new one, the creative juices are flowing!

I have completed the novel up to chapter 36, and I am nearing completion of the outline chapters. Yeah, reader, organic storytelling/writing isn’t the path for me. If I plot out a rough outline for each chapter, then the process becomes infinitely easier for me to complete. I don’t have to waste time thinking about what is going to happen next, since I’ve already done that! I just need to fill in the blanks!

Writing weekly in this blog is also helping me hone my writing chops. My typing skills are still atrocious. I’m not a hunt and peck typist, but I have a tendency to type faster than my fingers can keep up. The letters are there, but in the wrong order. I guess I have a kind of typing dyslexia? In the words of Pooh Bear, Oh Bother!

TTFN!
